ARTIST STATEMENT
The absolute root of my art is making something dynamic out of something that would otherwise be considered waste. My sculptural objects and interactive installations aim to manifest a dialogue both within and between viewers regarding the sometimes-self-destructive nature of contemporary society. Rather than burden the viewer with depressive ideas I aim to juxtapose these inescapable catastrophic perils that we have created for ourselves with humor, and a sense of play. I use reclaimed and found materials that could be considered to have a sense of nostalgia for a wide audience, and that nostalgia is the unifying element to act as a catalyst for change and therefore hope. For myself, Art is hope.
